1. Admission
Acceptance Criteria
A student is admitted on the basis of Christian
character, former records and entrance or placement tests. Each student's
record is reviewed by the Principal each year and admitted on the basis
of specific criteria. An average of C or above work is the acceptable
standard. Parents must sign a Statement of Cooperation.
Attendance
In order for your child to gain the most
he/she must be regular in attendance. Please do not ask for him to be
excused for reasons other than sickness or dire emergency. All absences
over 2 in a 6-week period will result in lowering a student's grade. This
is usually one letter grade per day. You have only 24 hours to bring in
a written note. The only absences which will be acceptable are sickness,
death in immediate family, and doctor appointments. If any child misses
more that 20 days the promotion at the end of the year will be in jeopardy.
When a student is absent or tardy for any reason, he/she must report to
the office for permission to enter class. They must also have a
written excuse from their parent or guardian, stating the cause
of absence. Absences must be reported to the office before 10:00 a.m.
2. Registration
Please download
application form and mail
to the school office. We will contact you for an
interview.
Before a student
is admitted to Broward Christian Schools, the parent and student must complete a series

f. Registration fee, book fee, class fee, tuition paid.
3. Withdrawal, Dismissal
Withdrawal must be made through the office
and all tuition payments continue until withdrawal is completed. Report
cards will not be issued to any student whose account is not current.
This includes each reporting period. At the close of the school year all
records will be held until the yearly tuition and fees are paid in full.
For students who have displayed slow payment of tuition during the school
year, exams will be held up until final payments have been made in advance.
A student may be dismissed at any time
if he/she is found to be out of harmony with the rules and policies of
our administration.
4. Dress Code
All students are expected to wear a
school uniform, which can be bought at the uniform company
indicated by the school.
5. Physical Education
Students will dress-out each day at P.E.
class. Kindergarten through the 6th grade students may purchase their
P.E. uniforms at the uniform company. Students will be excused from class
only with a doctor's note. A parent may write a note excusing child from
participating in P.E. class, but not from dressing out.
6A. Home Work
We believe that homework is an integral
part of the educational program and each teacher is at liberty to give
homework to aid each student to advance in his studies. Each student is
expected to complete homework assignments. Homework is given for several
purposes:
- For Drill - We believe that most students require solid drilling
to master material essential to their educational progress.
- For Practice - Following classroom explanation, illustration
and drill on new work, homework is given so that the material will be
mastered.
- For Remedial Activity - As instruction progresses, various
weak points in a student's grasp of subject material become evident.
Homework, following instruction, is given to overcome such difficulties.
- For Special projects - Book reports, compositions, special
research assignments and projects are some of the activities that are
frequently the subject of homework attention. 40-50% of the six weeks
grade is taken from homework.
6B. Projects
We invite the participation of all our
parents in our drives to raise funds. Projects will be announced as the
year progresses. Awards are given to students and classes doing the best
job.
7. Lost and Found
Lost and found items will be kept in the
office. Be sure your child inquires there for any missing items. Articles
will be held only for thirty days. Please label uniforms.
8. Yearbook
Each year the students Yearbook Staff selects
ideas, pictures, stories, etc. and produces a beautiful display. The Yearbook
is purchased by each student.
9. Text books
Books are to be kept covered throughout
the year. These books are lent to the students and must be returned at
the end of the year. Books damaged or destroyed must be paid for before
final grade cards will be handed out.
10. Supplies
Teachers will give each student a list
of supplies they will need in their classes. It is mandatory that all
students purchase, and maintain all year long, a hard bound notebook,
plastic envelope, with pencils (regular and colored) inside, and dividers.
11. The Office
Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15
p.m. When coming to the school for any reason, please come to the office
first. Do not go directly to the classroom. Lunches, homework, books,
etc., may be left in the office to be delivered. Phones are business phones
and are not to be used by students except in emergencies.
12. Day's Schedule
Please have your child arrive not earlier
than 8:30 a.m. or remain later than 3:30 p.m. since there is supervision
only during this time. Classes begin at 8:45 a.m. and end at 3:15 p.m.
13. Grades and Report
Cards
The purpose of our reporting system is
to give parents an indication of the progress or portion of progress that
is being made. Each child's ability, attitude and application are taken
into account in grading. The letter grading system is used whenever possible,
and will be explained on the report card. 3-week and 6-week reports are
given to parents.
14. Insurance
Insurance may be provided for all students
with an additional fee. They will be insured from the time leaving for
school to their return.
15. Field Trips
Throughout the year students will visit
educational sites. These will be arranged by supervisors. The students
are expected to dress in regulation school uniforms for each field trip.
16. Parent-Teacher
Fellowship
There is a PTF meeting scheduled on the
day following the issuance of the first report card. This meeting starts
at 7:30 p.m. on a Thursday (see current calendar). Other PTF meetings
are scheduled at different times.
Valuable help will be given at every Parent-Teacher
Fellowship meeting. Policies vital to the consistent training of your
child will be discussed. The nature of the PTF meeting is:
1. To acquaint both parent and teacher with philosophy of Christian
education and the curriculum used.
2. To acquaint both parent and teacher with the importance of recognizing
and adequately coping with the emotional, spiritual and disciplinary
needs of the child.
3. To provide an opportunity for parent and teacher to know and fellowship
with each other.
4. To provide the parents an opportunity to see the achievements of
the students and also for various students and classes to perform in
a planned program.
17. Lunch
The students
may bring their
lunch each day. Please give your child a wholesome variety of food in
their lunch box, providing the necessary variety for growth. The school
will provide a menu for those children who need to buy lunch at
school each day. We will seek
to uphold and teach proper manners during the lunch hour.
